With the 75th anniversary of Tamworth Football Club falling in 2008, TFC Supporters' Club realised that here was the perfect opportunity to tell the history of the club in a unique manner.
There has been a Supporters Club in some form since TFC began in 1933, while the present group was formed in 1995 and continue to go from strength to strength. Through various fundraising initiatives the Supporters Club has helped fund a number of projects at TFC with the only remit being that any money raised is used in a way that will benefit the fans.
At a time when football at the highest levels is getting ever further away from the grassroots, here was a chance to highlight the exploits of a club which has never got away from its' true fans and thanks to the efforts of previous generations of supporters, all the playing statistics were available while local archives continue provide a wealth of unearthed or long forgotten information about the club.
Funding for our project was obtained from the Heritage Lottery Fund and was applied for via the formation of a special ‘arm’ of the supporters club to comply with the HLF’s strict application requirements. None of the money received for the project can be used for any other means other than telling the story of Tamworth FC. And while the money received forms an integral part of the projects success the main aim of the project is to involve the local community as much as possible.
